Transportation in Naypyidaw

Naypyidaw's transport scene is built around taxis and private cars, there's no metro or rail spine here. Taxis are plentiful and cheap for short hops. But most visitors end up hiring a car with driver for the day; it's the only practical way to cover the capital's vast, widely-spaced sights. Ride-hailing apps work sporadically, so if one fails, flag a cab on the street and agree the fare before you set off. On arrival at Naypyidaw International Airport, skip the touts inside the terminal and head straight to the official taxi rank just outside the doors. The ride to the hotel zone is short and costs a fraction of what the "airport transfer" desks quote. If you're on a tight budget, wait for a shared minivan that departs when full. But be ready for extra stops.
